Performing arts students bring Christmas cheer

Performing arts students at Clarendon Sixth Form College were the star turn at the Ashton-under-Lyne Christmas lights switch on, with a special performance for the local crowd.

Nine students from the college took to the stage on Ashton market square to perform a range of songs including Christmas favourites, hits from ‘High School Musical’ and ‘Hairspray’ along with current chart toppers.

Ashton town centre Christmas lights switch on, which was themed around Disney film ‘Frozen’ and organised by Tameside Council, took place on Saturday 30th November. Alongside stage performances, characters posed for photographs.

Oleksandra Antonova, performing arts teacher at Clarendon Sixth Form College, said: “The students had a lot of fun singing for the crowds before the lights switch on. I hope that they helped visitors to get into the Christmas spirit. If you’d like to see more of our students, you can pick up a ticket for their Christmas show, Cinderella.”
