Clarendon Sixth Form College students help to keep patients safe with NHS work experience project.
Graphic design students at the college recently worked with the medical electrical department at Tameside and Glossop NHS Foundation Trust to create an engaging infographic, to provide safety information to nurses and doctors.
The brief, which required students to create a short, animated safety video to ensure checks are carried out regularly on vital hospital equipment, was set by Andy Wright, deputy medical equipment safety officer at the trust.
A panel of judges from the trust selected student Bilal Kousar’s designs as the winning entry, for it’s fluid and easy to follow instructions and design.
Bilal was presented with the first prize award during a ceremony in the college’s state of the art ‘iHub’ 360 degree space, where his designs could be shown to guests.
The winning animation will now be displayed on screens across the Tameside and Glossop NHS Foundation Trust estate.
Harry Arnold, graphic design teacher at Clarendon Sixth Form College, said: “This project was a fantastic opportunity for our students to take on a real world brief that has a genuine impact within the community. Working with the NHS gave them valuable insight into how design can play a critical role in patient care. Bilal and the rest of the group showed incredible professionalism, creativity and attention to detail throughout the process and I am very proud of what they’ve achieved. They really rose to the challenge.”
