Futures Programme

Clarendon Sixth Form College Futures Programme

At Clarendon Sixth Form College, the Futures Programme is designed to help you achieve your ambitions. If you’re studying A-Levels or the full-time BTEC Applied Science course, you’ll follow this programme to develop the skills, knowledge, and experiences you need for success after college.

The programme is built around four key pillars: Futures Tutorial, Futures Plus, A-level Mindset, and Enrichment. Together, these will support your academic progress, personal growth, and career preparation.

Futures Plus

If you’re aiming for highly competitive university courses like medicine, veterinary science, or dentistry, Futures Plus is here to give you an edge. Your progress will be reviewed regularly, considering your academic ability, attitude, and career aspirations. Through this pathway, you’ll benefit from one-to-one mentoring, expert guidance, university summer camps, and independent learning opportunities to prepare you for the toughest applications.

Pathways

You’ll be guided in choosing subjects that align with your future goals. Pathways you can follow include:

  • STEM & Medicine – if you want to pursue medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, or natural sciences.
  • STEM & Computing – if your interests lie in technology, maths, physics, chemistry, or computer science.
  • Medical, Health & Forensics – if you’re considering healthcare, psychology, criminology, or forensic science.
  • Business, Finance & Law – if you want to explore business, economics, or legal systems.
  • Creative, Design & Media – if you’re passionate about art, design, film, media, or visual communication.
  • Humanities & Social Sciences – if you’re drawn to history, politics, English, sociology, or cultural studies.
  • Sport, Fitness & Wellbeing – if you’re looking to build a career in sport, health, or fitness.
  • Education & Childhood – if you see yourself in teaching or working with children and young people.

A-Level Mindset (VESPA)

To help you succeed academically, you’ll use the VESPA model. You’ll learn to sharpen your Vision (clear goals), put in consistent Effort, build effective Systems, practise with focus (Practice), and strengthen your Attitude so you can stay resilient and positive.

Enrichment

Alongside your studies, you’ll take part in exciting enrichment opportunities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Sutton Trust Summer Schools, Oxbridge programmes, Cambridge Shadowing, World Skills competitions, and the AQA Extended Project Qualification. These experiences will set you apart when applying for university or future careers.

Your Journey and Success

Many students before you have gone on to top universities, including Warwick, Exeter, and Liverpool, studying subjects like Maths, Computer Science, and Sociology. Just like them, you’ll be supported every step of the way by dedicated teachers who go the extra mile to help you reach your goals.

Entry Requirements

To join Futures Plus, you’ll need at least 7 GCSEs at grade 7. Your application will also consider your attendance, punctuality, and long-term aspirations. You’ll discuss this throughout your transition from Year 11 to ensure it’s the right fit for you.

Timeline

Your journey into the Futures Programme begins with Year 10 taster sessions, open evenings, and the application process. From there, you’ll have interviews, a New Student Day, and enrolment, helping you transition smoothly into college life and onto your chosen pathway.

At Clarendon Sixth Form College, high expectations and high aspirations are at the heart of everything we do. This programme is here to ensure that you achieve your full potential and take confident steps toward the future you want.
