Clarendon Sixth Form College teacher delivers speech at prestigious Harrow School development event.
Emma Beetham, A-level classical civilisation teacher at the college, was invited to attend the world famous public school’s ‘ancient history day’, to deliver a speech on Greek culture during the 5th century.
Emma, who is also an A-level ancient history subject advisor for the Classical Association, talked about her passion for the subject and her experiences as a classics teacher.
Harrow School’s ancient history day brings together some of the top academics and teachers in the field together to share best practice and network. The keynote speaker at this year’s event, Paul Cartledge, is one of the world’s leading historians on Greek history.
During the event, Emma was also able discuss opportunities for her students at Clarendon Sixth Form College, including trips to universities.
Emma said: ““It was a privilege to be invited to deliver a session to ancient history and classics teachers from across the country and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was also a fantastic opportunity for me to establish links with universities to benefit my students. I have already begun arranging a trip to Warwick University through their outreach programme, to enable them to have a fully funded trip to access their classics department and work with the professors there.”
