Chester Zoo workshops boost students’ learning
23 January 2026
Clarendon Sixth Form College students take part in an educational visit to Chester Zoo to attend specialist workshops.
A-Level Business students and science students recently spent the day at the world famous zoo to take part in interactive workshops delivered by staff members.
The workshops gave students the opportunity to explore how marketing theory is applied within a business, alongside learning about animal behaviour and conservation in practice.
Business students explored topics such as the marketing mix, branding and market segmentation, whilst science students examined animal behaviour and the impact of environmental factors on different species.
The visit formed part of the college's 'Futures' programme, which provides students with four pillars of support; tutorials focusing on wellbeing and academic progress, A-level mindset, enrichment opportunities such as the Chester Zoo trip and 'Futures Plus' which provides tailored support to high achievers.
Harriet Ruddick, A-level business teacher at Clarendon Sixth Form College said: “The students had a fantastic time learning how the theory they study in lessons affects real life. The science students were able to see the real impacts of their studies on animals and behaviour, while the business students developed their skills by seeing how a major organisation uses marketing effectively. It was also a great opportunity for students to bond and enjoy the day together.”
