Employability fairs boost students’ career prospects

Prestigious employers visit Tameside College and Clarendon Sixth Form College for employability fairs.

Students from across the campus were able to meet some of the biggest employers in the north west and beyond during the events, to find out about the career opportunities they have on offer.

The fairs, which took place across two days at the college’s Tameside One and Beaufort Road campuses, form part of the college’s strategy to fill skills gaps in key industries and develop students for the world of work.

Visiting employers included Willmott Dixon, North West Ambulance Service, Greater Manchester Police, Speakers for Schools, the Army, Oldham Coliseum Theatre, Tameside Hospital and many more.

Alongside the fairs, the Army also hosted an experience session involving Public Services students, where their skills were put to the test in simulated exercises to give them a picture of life in the armed forces.

Kathryn Crook, work experience coordinator for Tameside College and Clarendon Sixth Form College, said: “The employability fairs have been a huge success and it was great to see so many students talking to employers about a potential career path. Thank you to the employers who took part, their contribution was vital.”
