Politics teacher Vicky’s career comes full circle
25 March 2025
Clarendon Sixth Form College teacher’s career comes full circle after studying at the college.
Vicky Heywood, an A-level government and politics teacher, who completed her A-levels at the college, is now teaching students on the very same course.
Vicky, who joined the college in August 2024, studied politics, sociology and English language as a student at the college’s predecessor, Hyde Clarendon College.
During her studies, Vicky became the president of the student union and then went on to study a degree in politics and sociology at Keele University. She then completed her masters degree in sociology.
During her time with the college, Vicky has already taken students on a trip to the People’s History Museum in Manchester, to learn about the history of democracy in Britain and learn about the importance of government.
She has also examined topics such as liberalism, anarchism and socialism, with her students, which she says she enjoys.
Vicky said: “The college feels the same as it did when I was a student here and it’s great to be back here teaching. I love being able to give back to students and the college, where I gained my passion for the subject. I think that young people need to learn about politics and its importance in the world, now more than ever and I hope that I am helping with that.”
