Animation student takes first prize in global competition

Creative Clarendon Sixth Form College student takes first prize in global art competition.

Aaliyah Shevlin-Akbar, a level three animation and game design student, has achieved international recognition after winning a global art competition for the video game Baldur’s Gate 3.

The competition, which was hosted on the game’s community platform and launched by Emma Gregory and Andrew Wincott, the voice actors behind two of the game’s main characters, asked fans to create a winter themed scene based on Baldur’s Gate.

Aaliyah’s winning entry features a reimagined festive scene, with the character Minthara piloting a sleigh pulled by displacer beasts.

As part of her prize she received a personal video message of congratulations from Emma Gregory and recognition in the game design industry as a talented designer and artist.

Emma Geary-Malpus, animation and game design teacher at Clarendon Sixth Form College said: “This is such a wonderful achievement for Aaliyah. Her dedication to her craft and her commitment to growing as an artist is truly exceptional. She has come so far since the start of her studies and I have no doubt that she will continue to reach new heights and inspire others with her beautiful work.”
