Moving research trip provides valuable experience for A-level students
12 March 2026
Students at Clarendon Sixth Form College visit Poland for moving and insightful research trip.
A-level psychology students from the college recently visited the Polish city of Krakow to learn about the holocaust, as part of their studies into social influence and majority pressure in society.
During the trip, students had the opportunity to visit the Jewish Ghetto, Jewish Museum and former concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
A survivor of the Holocaust also gave a talk to students on their experiences. The Holocaust was the state sponsored persecution and murder of six million Jews and millions of other victims by the Nazi regime during World War II.
The visit links with students’ current study topic of social influence and how authority figures can affect people’s decision making, embedding classroom theory into learning.
As part of the college’s ‘Futures’ programme students regularly take part in trips and activities such as this. The Futures programme combines tutorials, study skills training, enrichment activities and specialist support to allow students to succeed academically and progress into university or employment.
Shannon Bradley, A-level psychology teacher at Clarendon Sixth Form College, said: “The Krakow visit allowed students to gain a deeper understanding of the atrocities that took place during the holocaust and World War Two and hear about the impact that this had on the Jewish population. It was an eye opening experience and one that alongside helping them complete vital research, will provide them with a lasting and profound life experience.”
